SERENDIPITY
Abimbola Writes: One of God’s words to us in my Just Us Girls tribe this year is SERENDIPITY: “unplanned, fortunate discovery.”
I hadn’t taken time to study the word or look up scriptures about it. Instead, I’ve been journeying through the book of Psalms.
Yesterday, Psalm 68:12–13 leapt out at me:
“Kings and armies flee in haste; the women at home divide the plunder. Even while you sleep among the sheepfolds,the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold.”
This morning, the Holy Spirit led me back to it, and He began to unravel it to me:
Women don’t usually go to war. They don’t fight the battles or divide the spoils. Yet this Scripture says the enemy fled, and the women became the first partakers of the reward. They didn’t fight, strive, or struggle—yet they didn’t just receive the plunder, they shared it! They decided who got what! They became the first partakers of the spoil.
That is serendipity!
Then the next verse says, “while you sleep among the sheepfolds…” While resting, hiding, tending the ordinary, or minding your own business, silver and gold appear!
- In the least expected places
- In obscurity
- In rest
- In hiding
Treasure found without striving.
This is SERENDIPITY!
The image used here is a dove. The dove represents the Holy Spirit.
This means that in the presence of the Holy Spirit—while worshipping, abiding, and staying close to God—treasures are found. Treasures I didn’t even know existed: instructions, ideas, favor, provisions, and wealth of many kinds.
Sometimes, without even trying…
- While resting
- While obeying
- While staying hidden
Gold and silver find you.
This Scripture embodies serendipity in the Kingdom of God:
- Unplanned favor
- Unexpected reward
- Victory you didn’t fight for
- Treasure discovered in rest and presence
Now this word resonates with me deeply:
SERENDIPITY: “Divine advantage that finds you while you’re abiding, not achieving.”
Stay with the Dove.
Stay in the sheepfold.
The silver and gold will find you.
